I have so many trips that I’d love to create Travel with Me posts for, many of which were several years ago. There were a few years there where we were able to make travel a big priority, but I couldn’t keep up with the posts on top of my full-time job. Then we started having our beautiful babies, and we weren’t traveling much, but there wasn’t as much time to write. This is one of those trips. In July 2019, we took our then-one-year-old Carson to Colorado. The main reason for the trip was a friend’s wedding, but we added on a few days to enjoy the mountains together as a family.
This isn’t so much a guide as it is just a little glimpse into our family mountain vacation. It’s very much a walk down memory lane for me. I cannot believe that the baby in these photos is already two and a half!
This trip was my first time flying alone with Carson. Daniel met us in Denver from a work conference in NYC, so I only flew alone with him one way. The flights, both solo and with Daniel, went pretty well.
We stayed in an Airbnb in the cozy mountain town of Dillon. The Airbnb appears to not be available anymore, which is too bad. It was a great place for a small family. We rented the larger baby equipment from Baby’s Away of Denver – I share my thoughts about and experiences renting baby equipment in this blog post. Traveling with a baby is hard enough, so we have often made it a little easier on ourselves by renting some of the equipment.
Immediately upon arrival, Carson began helping us unpack!
The main bedroom was in a loft upstairs, and Carson stayed on the first level in the rented pack ‘n play. This was my view from upstairs during nap time….
The sunset view from upstairs was breathtaking!
Our first main event of the trip was the wedding. This was the most beautiful wedding setting I have ever seen! Here is Carson playing some of the yard games at the wedding in his sweet little wedding attire.
For the remaining couple of days we had in Colorado after the wedding, we took some long, scenic walks….
…discovered the coolest playground with the most magnificent backdrop…
…hit up a brewery for a break to play some games, have dessert, and let baby get in a short nap time…
Then it was back to home sweet home. Traveling as a family is nice, but coming home is pretty great too. This is one of the last times I was able to hold Carson like this before he grew too big for it. He was very tired after our travel day!
